Hopefully you all really enjoyed BETT on Friday. What interesting products/resources did you come across? I was very interested in the Active Robot stand and the potential for engaging students by teaching them to control robots – there were a lot of different robots which were not too expensive, and could be used at different levels. I also was impressed by a small stand for YouSrc.com, a programming language for children that can be used to quickly develop games on an Android phone as well as in a web browser.
Thought Bett was well worth the effort of an extremely long train journey, actually lets work it out; car to station, Rayleigh to Liverpool Street. Then Central line to Notting Hill and change to Kensington High Street, oh then man is taken ill on tube so walk (with some German people) got on wrong bus nearly, got off wrong bus, walked with German people and then queued for next bus then jumped queue, then got on said bus and then got into Bett on the second floor through some kind of priority entrance! Made it to the Gallery bar, needed strong coffee. Found the whole thing quite fascinating. Really looking forward to wallpaper plasma, think that's awesome. Met some very nice men from Korea who had invented a package to write music. Unfortunately they couldn't read music so we used their software and pointed out where they could improve it, I dont think they understood me. Saw some fantastic data logging technology, wireless and only £205 definitely worth buying for my department (!!) when i ever get one. Only got 5 pens and understand the record is 31! Oh well, I tried. It was nice to meet up with all from ARU and thought the trip very worthwhile.
